Bereavement & Loss Counselling
Grieving the loss of a loved one is a natural and essential part of the healing process, though it often brings intense emotional challenges. Feelings of sadness, anxiety or guilt, are common during this time, and individuals may question whether they did enough for their loved one or reflect on things they wish they had said or done differently.
As a bereavement counsellor, I provide compassionate support to help individuals navigate through the various stages of grief. My role is to guide clients as they process their emotions, work towards acceptance, and gradually rebuild their lives.
In 2018, I volunteered with Cruse Bereavement Care, where I served as a counsellor and active listener. During this time, I completed training and earned their bereavement qualification, further enhancing my ability to support individuals coping with loss.
Anger Management & Emotional Regulation
Do you often feel angry or frustrated over seemingly minor issues? Anger can be a difficult emotion to manage, but with the appropriate support, it can be effectively controlled. Through a trusting, supportive, and structured approach, counselling helps individuals explore the underlying causes of their anger. By utilizing personalized strategies and therapeutic guidance, clients can develop healthier coping mechanisms, enhance self-awareness, and respond more constructively to challenging situations.
I have successfully completed specialized training in Anger Management to provide clients with the tools they need to manage their emotions effectively.
Anxiety Counselling
Is anxiety taking control of your life, leaving you feeling helpless despite your best efforts? Have you tried therapy before, only to find it ineffective? If so, I am confident I can help. My practice offers integrative, evidence-based approaches specifically designed to treat and provide relief from anxiety.
Anxiety is often linked to past traumatic experiences, which can sometimes lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In such cases, counselling can help you identify the root causes of your anxiety, learn relaxation techniques, reframe your perspective on distressing situations, and develop more effective coping mechanisms and problem-solving strategies.
Research indicates that therapy is often the most effective treatment for anxiety disorders, as it addresses the underlying causes rather than simply alleviating symptoms, which is commonly the case with medication.
Common symptoms of anxiety may include:
- Rapid breathing or shortness of breath
- Excessive sweating
- Overthinking and constant worry
- Nervousness, tension, or shaking
- Feelings of panic, dread, or impending danger
- Trembling or muscle twitching
- Fatigue or weakness
- Difficulty concentrating or constant worrying
- Sleep disturbances or insomnia
- Obsessive thoughts, which may indicate obsessive-compulsive disorder

Counselling for Self-Confidence & Motivation
The initial step is to gain a deep understanding of the client's personal story and experiences. It is essential to explore the underlying reasons behind their core emotions and identify negative thought patterns that contribute to low self-confidence and self-esteem. Together, we examine how these thoughts influence their behavior, actions, and overall well-being, empowering them to work toward positive change, build self-worth, and develop resilience.
During these sessions, you will learn effective techniques to release suppressed emotions, manage distressing thoughts, and cope with difficult feelings. Additionally, you will explore mindfulness and meditation practices, along with relaxation methods, to help restore a sense of calm and control.
Stress Management & Coping Strategies
In today’s world, high levels of stress have become the norm, even though we are not naturally equipped to handle constant pressure. Learning to manage stress effectively is essential, and counselling can provide you with the tools to develop coping strategies while building resilience for the future.
When stress becomes overwhelming, it is easy to overlook the warning signs, hoping things will improve once tasks are completed or challenging periods pass. Many people avoid addressing stress until they reach burnout - often after trying various coping methods without success. They recognize that something is wrong but continue to struggle until the effects of stress become unmanageable.
Signs of Stress May Include:
- Heart palpitations
- Sleep disturbances
- Headaches, stomach issues, and muscle tension
- Persistent fatigue or exhaustion
- Irritability and frustration
- Poor decision-making
- Unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as excessive alcohol, drug use, smoking, or caffeine consumption
- Poor diet and lack of self-care
- Feelings of hopelessness or low mood
I take an integrative approach to stress management, focusing on the present while incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) alongside other evidence-based strategies and techniques. This approach empowers clients to regain control, strengthen coping mechanisms, and build resilience. By developing healthier habits and a balanced lifestyle, you can promote long-term well-being and reduce the impact of stress on your daily life.
Counselling for Women: Motherhood, Relationships, Family & Self-Worth
In today’s society, motherhood brings immense change, affecting every aspect of life - emotionally, mentally, and physically. Many mothers feel pressured to "do it all" while struggling with emotional overload. It’s easy to lose yourself in the demands of parenting without taking time to recognize your own needs.
As a mother myself, I understand these challenges. That’s why I’m passionate about helping women feel more confident, balanced, and supported in their journey.
During sessions, clients will:
- Gain clarity and awareness, discovering what works best for them in navigating challenges such as:
- Feeling emotionally drained or overwhelmed
- Struggling with guilt, frustration, or self-doubt
- Worrying about how parenting stress affects their children
- Feeling like they’re just getting through the days rather than truly living
You deserve time to care for yourself, not just as a mother, but as an individual. When you feel supported and fulfilled, it benefits both you and your family. Let’s work together to prioritize your well-being and find what truly works for you.
Therapy for Self-Esteem
Do you struggle with anxiety or depression? Feel awkward or self-conscious in social situations? Constantly compare yourself to others and feel like you don’t measure up?
Self-esteem shapes how we see ourselves. When it’s healthy, we feel confident, valued, and worthy of love. When it’s low, we experience self-doubt, shame, and harsh self-criticism.
Recognising Low Self-Esteem
People with low self-esteem often experience patterns such as:
- Imposter Syndrome – Hiding insecurities behind achievements, often leading to perfectionism or procrastination.
- Rebellion – Displaying indifference or defiance, sometimes masking feelings of inferiority with anger or blame.
- Victimhood – Feeling powerless in life’s challenges and relying on others for validation or support.
Regardless of how it manifests, low self-esteem can contribute to:
- Depression & anxiety
- Self-doubt & guilt
- Isolation & loneliness
- Disordered eating & self-harm
- Co-dependency & lack of resilience
Self-worth issues often develop in childhood, and overcoming them requires exploration, support, and guidance. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space to challenge limiting beliefs and build self-esteem.
During sessions, clients will:
- Identify the root causes of low self-esteem
- Challenge negative self-talk and unhelpful beliefs
- Build self-compassion and confidence
- Develop healthier coping strategies to cultivate a stronger, more positive sense of self
Trauma Informed Counselling
Trauma is not always the result of a single catastrophic event; it can also stem from prolonged or less visible experiences. Yet, many forms of trauma are frequently invalidated, including:
- Neglect, emotional abuse, and bullying
- Infidelity and relational betrayal
- Infertility and pregnancy loss
- Burnout and chronic stress
- Caring for a loved one with severe mental illness or addiction
- Nonconsensual sexual experiences
- Undiagnosed or unacknowledged health conditions
- Experiencing systemic oppression and discrimination
- Divorce, including parental separation in childhood
- Witnessing violence or enduring abuse from authority figures
- Financial instability and poverty
- Unrecognized or unsupported learning disabilities
- Chronic pain and invisible illnesses
- Bereavement or multiple significant losses in a short period
- Immigration and cultural displacement
- Unemployment and job insecurity
Every painful experience is valid. The absence of recognition does not diminish its impact. Healing begins with acknowledging our wounds without minimization or justification. Your pain is real, and that is enough.
Trauma: A Response
Trauma is not solely defined by what happens to us but by how our mind and body respond to those experiences. The four primary trauma responses - fight, flight, freeze, and fawn - are adaptive survival mechanisms that arise in response to perceived danger, stress, or emotional injury.
Pathways to Healing
The first step toward healing is recognising how trauma manifests in our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Through integrative therapeutic support, EMDR therapy, mindfulness practices, and self-compassion, we can regulate our nervous system, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and foster emotional resilience.
By validating our own experiences and those of others, we create a foundation for healing, growth, and deeper self-awareness.
Pregnancy Counselling
Pregnancy is a time of significant change, often bringing a wide range of emotions - from joy and excitement to uncertainty and overwhelm. While it’s commonly expected to be a happy time, many women experience feelings that don’t align with this ideal. If you’re not feeling overjoyed, it doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Every pregnancy is different, and it’s completely normal to have mixed emotions.
Some women may face mental health challenges during pregnancy, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, obsessive thoughts, or eating difficulties.
Common Challenges in Pregnancy
- Anxiety about labour, especially after a previous difficult birth
- Difficulty accepting physical changes
- Feeling emotionally detached from the baby
- Resentment toward others not experiencing pregnancy
- Discomfort or pain affecting daily life
- Mood swings or feeling emotionally overwhelmed
- Worry about being a “good enough” mother
- Fear of complications or things going wrong
How Counselling Can Help
Counselling offers a confidential, compassionate space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. It can help you process your experiences, manage difficult emotions, and feel more grounded during this time of change.
Therapy can support you in building emotional resilience, improving your well-being, and preparing for life with your baby. Many women find that counselling during pregnancy helps ease the transition into motherhood.
As a mother myself, I understand how complex pregnancy can be. My aim is to support you in navigating this experience in a way that feels authentic and manageable for you.
